I Don't Need to Remember — Why I Built Memoket

Last week, I sat down with Brett Levy on the TechKnowledgy podcast to talk about something that has consumed my life for the past 15 months: Memoket. The episode was titled "I don't need to remember," and honestly, that phrase captures everything I set out to build.

Let me take you back to where it all started.

The Frustration That Sparked It All

I'm a tech enthusiast, a mom of two boys, and someone who has lived and worked across four continents. My career has always been about building things that solve real problems — but for a long time, there was one problem I couldn't stop thinking about.

It started with a simple frustration: the AI tools we had were getting incredibly good at answering questions, but they kept forgetting almost everything that happened outside the screen. Every conversation was treated as an isolated event. If I had ten customer interviews, I'd get ten separate summaries — and then I had to read through all of them and piece the story together myself.

The core idea is not just summarizing one meeting after another.

That was the moment I realized: the problem isn't that AI isn't smart enough. The problem is that it doesn't have the context. It doesn't know what happened before. It doesn't know how conversations connect across days, weeks, and months. It's like trying to understand a book by reading one sentence at a time — without ever seeing the full page.

My Mother's Doctor Visits

The frustration turned personal when my mother started having more frequent doctor visits. She would come out of the appointment and try to relay what the doctor said, but she couldn't repeat everything word for word. Important details got lost. Questions I wished she had asked went unasked.

So I had her record the conversations.

That experience crystallized something for me: so many of the most important conversations in our lives happen away from screens. They happen in hospital rooms, in car rides, over coffee, in hallways. And we lose them. Not because we don't care, but because we're human — we can't hold onto everything.

Sometimes I'm driving and an investor calls. I wish I could record that conversation, but I'm not going to risk my life reaching for my phone. There had to be a better way.

The Vision: A Context Layer Between the Physical World and AI

That's when the concept of Memoket was born. We're building what I call the context layer between the physical world and AI.

The idea is simple but ambitious: capture real-world conversations — naturally, unobtrusively, on demand — and turn them into structured context that AI can actually work with. Not isolated summaries. Not disconnected notes. A living, connected record of your conversations that grows smarter over time.

If you meet someone for the second time, Memoket remembers what you talked about the first time. If you're a founder interviewing ten customers, the software compares responses for you instead of forcing you to read ten separate reports. It reconstructs relationships, decisions, and discussions as they evolve — because that's how real life actually works.

Meet Memoket Gem

The world's lightest AI wristband — designed to disappear, built to remember.

To bring this vision to life, we had to build hardware. Software alone wasn't enough — because the conversations that matter most are the ones that happen when you're not at your desk.

Designed to Disappear

ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT

At just 0.4 oz (11.3g), it's lighter than four sugar cubes. Crafted from aluminum alloy for strength without weight.

ALL-DAY WEAR

Up to 20 hours of battery life, so it stays with you from your morning meeting to your evening walk.

TWO WAYS TO WEAR

Wear it as a standalone wristband, or right next to your Apple Watch — compatible with all models from Series 1 through Ultra.

ONE-PRESS RECORDING

Push it once, and it captures the conversation. No fumbling for your phone. No interrupting the moment.

WI-FI SYNC

Your recordings transfer automatically, ready to be turned into structured context.

Built for Context, Not Just Notes

What makes Memoket Gem different isn't just the hardware — it's what happens after you press that button.

Instead of producing another isolated summary, Memoket's AI weaves your conversations together. It remembers what was said last week, last month, in a different meeting with a different person. It connects the dots so you don't have to.

It integrates with the tools you already use:

Privacy by Design

I know how sensitive it is to record personal conversations. That's why users are always in control — you decide what gets uploaded, what gets analyzed, and what stays private. Nothing happens without your say-so.

Why Hardware?

People sometimes ask me: why build a physical device? Why not just make an app?

The answer is that the most important conversations in our lives don't always happen near a screen. They happen in hospital rooms with our parents. They happen in the car when an investor calls unexpectedly. They happen over dinner with a potential business partner.

One-third of people are already wearing a smartwatch or wristband. It's not easy to forget, it's not easy to drop, and you can just push it once and record on the go. Hardware takes a lot of time and fine-tuning — believe me, I know — but we found it absolutely necessary. There's something about having a physical, always-there, never-in-the-way device that makes capturing life's conversations feel natural instead of intrusive.

The Bigger Picture

We started Memoket with a belief that the next generation of AI should live more naturally in the real world, through thoughtful hardware people can truly wear.

Right now, AI is brilliant inside the screen. It can write, it can code, it can analyze. But the moment you step away from your desk, AI goes blind. It loses all the context of your physical life — the conversations, the decisions, the relationships that actually shape your world.

That's the gap we're closing. Memoket is building the bridge between the physical world and AI at the context level. Not by making AI louder or faster, but by giving it something it's never had before: a living memory of your real-world conversations.

What's Next

We're launching soon, and I couldn't be more excited — and honestly, a little terrified. Building hardware is hard. Building a new category is harder. But every time I talk to someone who tells me they lost a crucial conversation, or who wishes they could remember what a doctor said three months ago, or who has ten customer interviews sitting in a folder that they'll never get around to reading — I know we're building something that matters.

The future of AI isn't just smarter answers. It's smarter context. And that context starts in the real world — in the moments between the screens, in the conversations we don't want to forget.
